Conductor Anchor Node (CAN)
25.01.2018 - Neodrill
The Conductor Anchor Node (CAN) is a well conductor that is integrated into a suction anchor well foundation and is installed by a light subsea construction vessel.
A majority of the Barents Sea and cold climate areas may be seasonally limited for drilling and well operations. CAN technology will extend the possible work capacity within given seasonal limitations, as it enables a time saving of 2-4 rig days per well.
By pre-rig installing a single well foundation with integrated conductor (CAN-ductor), the well hook-up work can be performed pre-rig with the same vessel and this costly time delay can be reduced, thus facilitating instant production.
Subsea Wellhead Integrity Monitoring (SWIM™)
24.04.2018 - 4Subsea
SWIM measures the accumulated load on the wellhead during the drilling operation. Autonomous sensors are monitoring BOP movements and data is transferred wirelessly to an ROV. The drilling team receives live update regarding wellhead integrity every time the ROV collects data – typically every hour to four times a day. No extra personnel are required on the rig.
In arctic regions, severe weather such as polar lows occur. SWIM provides your operation with better decision support during drilling operations, with reliable knowledge on whether to disconnect or continue drilling when operating in bad weather.
Operators can reuse critical wells and maximise lifetime of wellheads by scheduling drilling operations based on well criticality and historically accumulated load on wellhead.
Conductor analysis
24.04.2018 - 4Subsea
The conductor is the main load-bearing component in a satellite well, typically drilled for exploration or appraisal purposes. In order to have control of the well, it is crucial that the conductor retains its integrity at all times. Primarily during the entire drilling campaign, but also in the case of an accident, such as loss of position or if a capping stack needs to be installed.
Operators in arctic regions struggle with limited operational windows during drilling. 4Subsea’s conductor analysis documents that the conductor can maintain required integrity during the entire lifespan of the well. By tailoring the analysis to the specific rig choice, well location and design, we reduce cost by maximizing the operational window and avoid oversized equipment.
WellTrack™
10.09.2018 - 4Subsea
WellTrack™ is a collaboration solution designed specifically for managing key data and the integrity status of wellheads. The solution improves the ability to plan operations, basing decisions on verified information, so that operators can make the right actions at the right time. WellTrack™ significantly reduces time and cost spent on wellhead integrity assessments.
In the harsh arctic environment with limited weather windows, robust planning of well operations is paramount. Part of this planning is knowing the status of the wellhead. This is essential when connecting to a subsea well to perform completion, workover or a side track operation.
Keeping track of key data provides better decision support, allows for extended service life, and secures optimal production from your wells.

For electric x-mas trees the MEG SHPU can operate down hole safety valves using MEG as control fluid. The MEG SHPU can also operate using a closed reservoir with water based oil as control fluid, with the possibility to fill from vessel if required. The solutions can be shipped, stored and installed in arctic climate as well as the rest of the world.
Added value: less high-pressure equipment at surface, cost-efficient (no need for hydraulic lines in umbilical), reduces the likelihood of oil spill, eliminates the top side HPU for WBM, less manual handling during installation, and overall a huge cost and risk reducing measure for the project.
Subsea Smart Solutions supply subsea HPU units to control x-mas trees in production mode, for workover operations, and for intervention operations. Our Contingency SHPU will get the wells back in production within weeks, instead of waiting for a new replacement umbilical that normally takes between 2-3 years from the day the umbilical fails until the wells are back in production.
The Contingency SHPU will fit all x-mas trees independent of supplier and control system. It is prepared for low pressure and high pressure (chemical is optional). One unit can operate several x-mas trees or manifolds. The Contingency SHPU is ready to be mobilized from Stavanger Norway ASAP in case the need is there, and can be stored, shipped and installed in arctic climate.

Optilift Motion Reporter
13.09.2017 - OptiLift
Optilift Motion Reporter is a tool designed to increase the weather window for offshore lifts, from platform to vessel, rig to vessel and vessel to vessel. This is accomplished by measuring the effective significant wave height on the vessel deck, as a replacement to the traditional wave radar. The readings are used as input parameters to the crane load chart to set safe weight limits, instead of significant wave heights. The Motion Reporter is certified by DNV GL according to offshore crane standards EN13852-1 and DNV 2.22. It is ATEX certified to be used in Zone 1 explosion hazardous areas.
The product is in operational state in the North Sea (UK and NO), including the Norwegian Sea, but has only undergone lab-tests for cold climates. No instrumentation of supply vessels is required.
FRAMO seawater lift pumps
02.02.2018 - Framo
Traditional pump solutions with a central pump room mean wasted space, added risk and higher operational costs. Framo pumps are different. Submerged in simple sidemounted caissons, our pumps eliminate both hull penetrations and the need for a massive internal pump room and extensive piping.
Powered with the unique electric Framo cable-free concept, submersible pumps also ensure increased uptime. This is thanks to a short, stiff rotating shaft that avoids excessive wear and tear. The total result is an oil and gas pumping solution that reduces risk while saving both space and money.
The finished pumping system is insulated, cooled and lubricated by a small external oil circulation unit, preventing any ingress, enabling it to operate continuously in the toughest conditions.
FRAMO electric firewater pumps
02.02.2018 - Framo
FRAMO electric fire water pumping systems are the preferred solution when higher pumping capacities are needed, or when the generator package is located too far from the fire water pump. In our solution, the diesel generator supplies power to a cable-free electric submersible pump.
The generator package is a complete containerized unit. It includes a fuel tank, starting system and ancillaries, installed on a single skid in accordance with NFPA20 and industry standards for fire water systems. Having all components in a single, fire-rated enclosure offers technical advantages that lead to savings. Optimized in size and weight, the module is simple to install on deck and designed for ease of maintenance and continuous operation in remote locations and tough conditions, such as the Arctic.
FRAMO hydraulic firewater pumps
02.02.2018 - Framo
Framo hydraulic fire water pumping systems, with single-stage pumps that rotate slowly during standby, offer a minimal start load and the best possible preparedness. The system uses a submerged hydraulically driven pump. This pump lifts the water to deck level, where it feeds into a pump that is directly driven by the diesel engine. Consequently, the diesel engine’s start load is kept to a minimum.
The lift pump runs continuously at low speed in standby mode, driven by a flow of low-pressure hydraulic fluid circulated by a small electrically driven pump. This ensures continuous availability and lubrication/heating of the fire water lift pump, preventing marine growth in the pump. In harsh environments far from land, such as operations in the Arctic, pump reliability is top priority.
FRAMO water injection pumps
02.02.2018 - Framo
FRAMO water injection pumping systems are the reliable way to increase reservoir pressure. The high-power stages are arranged back-to-back for balanced thrust forces, and the high-speed shaft operates well below first critical speed. The system is designed for minimal wear and tear and easy maintenance, even when working with produced water. The system has shown more than 98% average availability in over 4,000,000 operating hours logged, making it reliable and suitable for use in remote locations.
The FRAMO water injection pumping systems is value-adding by having less than half the footprint of a BB pump. Because a booster pump is integrated into the main injection pump, we eliminate the need for a separate pump with associated piping, valves and manifolds.
Nitrogen generators
19.04.2018 - WME
WME manufactures on-site nitrogen generator systems utilizing membrane air separation technology. Membrane modules contain thousands of hair-like membranes that collectively separate large amounts of high purity, dry nitrogen directly from compressed air, which may be applied to prevent degradation of cargo sensitive to oxygen, moisture or combustion by-products.
Pressurized nitrogen can also be used to fill pipes to protect from freezing in arctic conditions. Pre-heating of air and insulated cabinets with heater and heat tracing of pipes will enable the nitrogen generator to function in extreme weather conditions.
WME has over 20 years experience and can deliver both custom made or standardized nitrogen generators to offshore platforms, FPO/FPSO's and maritime installations.

Ice management strategy
04.12.2017 - DNV GL
DNV GL can assist in developing an ice management procedure for temporary or permanent operations for facilities that operate in areas where there is a risk of interaction between the facility and sea ice and/or glacial ice. Ice management is performed either i) to avoid interaction between an installation and ice (sea ice and/or glacial ice), or ii) to reduce the global and local ice loads. Most commonly it is used to support floating installations.
“Any ice management approach that is intended to support the operation of an offshore system shall be configured to achieve an acceptable level of overall system reliability“ (ISO 19906, 2010).
